Darwinism needs to be forced upon computers..

WHY is it that games and all that nowadays aren’t produced ONLY on DVD’s? I’m installing Half-Life 2 right now and it’s 5 FREAKING CDS! Yes, there is a DVD version, but it was like $80.00 when I bought HL2. So, now that I want to try Natural Selection, I have to sit around and baby-sit this stupid install because I have to rotate CDs every 3 minutes.

If the computer doesn’t have a DVD-ROM at least in it then it PROBABLY CAN’T RUN THE NEW SOFTWARE ANYWAY. Even if they CAN run it, then UPGRADE YOUR DAMN DRIVE.

Gah.

BAH TO PEOPLE!

Friggin customers. I do a flat rate of $49 for my services. Usually this works out well, and I stay at the place for an average of an hour. BUT every so often I get one that wants me basically to camp out at their house and wants me to almost clean their yard.

This happened today.

I go to Sybil’s house, and start looking at her first machine. She had tipped it over and the heatsink had busted off, thus totally frying the processor. The motherboard clip was broken so it was useless. I tried to put in another mobo I happened to have, but that wouldn’t fit properly. I recommended to her that she just get a new machine because the other isn’t worth fixing really. That was a no-go. She’s looking at spending $70 on parts and has $50 in labor to me. That’s almost half of a new machine. I’d say that it’s a pretty good example of the law of diminishing returns…

Time for some Counter-Strike; more on this later.

Apple to move to Intel....

Something that would be completely inconceivable a few years ago is now happening. It’s been speculated for some time that Apple may switch to Intel, but even recently it wasn’t taken seriously.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2005/06/07/cnapple07.xml&menuId=242&sSheet=/money/2005/06/07/ixcity.html

Looks like the rumors are true.

Shoot, if you’d have mentioned a switch to Intel five years ago to a Mac user, you’d have been hit in the face…

On a different note, I got my HijackThis help article converted to the purdy new template.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m not a web designer and will just focus on writing.

Massive update to my main computer repair site

I just redid my computer repair site with a pretty template. I’ve yet to change the index or partners pages, but all (I hope) of the articles are not prettier.

HTML from e-mail test #2

Gotta figure this out..

Spyware prevention

HTML test from e-mail

<b>WORD</b>

New computer repair info

You learn something new every day..

Ran into an issue with HTTPS sites being blocked.

Usually it’s Norton’s crappy firewall that causes the issue, but today it was some DLLs that had become unregistered. I’ll probably add an article to my computer repair site soon enough.

To fix the HTTPS error (if it’s a dll issue)

Click Start-Run and type:

Regsvr32 SOFTPUB.DLL
Regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
Regsvr32 Initpki.dll
Regsvr32 Dssenh.dll
Regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll
Regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll
Regsvr32 Sccbase.dll
Regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll
Regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
Regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll

Click OK after each one. You’ll have to do them one at a time. I may add it to my Free spyware removal site as well, since it was some spyware that caused the problem in the first place.

Sendin' from e-mail. How cool is that?

Fancy-shmancy, eh?

With MSN Spaces email straight to your blog. Upload jokes, photos and more. It's free!

Let us begin...

Well, they take me right to a post and yet no username or password is required for the FTP info. Interesting....

Anyway, we'll see how this works.
